Default What's the difference b/t the 4.8 and 5.3L motors

Just like title says. i am looking at buying a motor from a guy. he doesn't remember if it is a 4.8 or 5.3. Is the bore the same and the crank and rods different? Is there any casting #'s on the crank or block that will tell me what it is?

Thanks in advance for any input.

The blocks are the same casting with the same bore. The block actually has a casting mark that says "4.8L/5.3L"

The 5.3L has a longer stroke and dished pistons while the 4.8 has flat-tops.
