Default Lid SOTP Poll

So, a lid is a lid is a lid. I get it. I just installed my SLP Lid (stock MAF size). So, with all this talk about it being the first upgrade you should get because it's such cheap HP/$, I installed it and am having a hard time feeling any SOTP acceleration difference. I DO feel like I have better throttle response, but it doesn't feel like it pulls any harder. Normal?

I didnt necessarily feel a difference but my track results after a lid and drag radials definetly showed it. That goes with a lot of bolt on mods you may not feel a difference but dyno numbers and track numbers will show different.

You won't notice much. I felt a little bit better acceleration when I did it but I'm sure that most of that is psychosomatic. I think that for sure it's a worthwhile mod, but 5 horsepower is only about a 1% - 2% increase in total power. That's probably why you don't feel it.

It hard to feel a 5 hp gain. You will benifit from the lid more when you do other mods. Also have you done the free ram air mod?

I have come to the conclusion that most people haven't driven their car long enough with the stock airlid to realize the difference the aftermarket ones do make. I had a stock Airlid for about 6 yrs, and noticed a nice SOTP gain after the install of my SLP lid.
So IMHO if you don't notice a gain then you don't drive the car enough or never truly get familiar with the performance enough to notice a difference.
So IMO your poll is skewed !

And before anyone decides to light a flame towards me, How many of you remember when the first Air lids were $250 ? Or when there was no LS1 aftermarket ?

Funny thing..don't know if it was psychological...it was really windy today, and my car did feel a little stronger (i.e. acceleration). I know I've had windier days on stock airbox and never noticed anything.

I drove 6 months with the car bone stock (except the shifter) and I noticed the difference the lid made. While it's not 6 years I think I still got to know the car well enough in that time. Had I done it in the first month or so I would not have noticed the difference because I would have not gotten to know the car well enough yet.

an SLP air lid was my first mod i did. i couldnt really notice a big difference, especially my car came with 2.73 gears.. then i added a magnaflow catback and my car felt more torquey and really woke the car up big time. acceleration was quicker, and throttle response seemed to be a bit more crisp also.

There is no way anyone would be able to notice a 5hp increase on a 350hp motor. Just sayin I drove mine for a while with the stock lid, then switched and didnt "feel" anything. Ran faster times, and thats all that matters
