Default Can MAC mids support 450+HP

i bought a set of MAC mid-lengths a few years back and now im in the process of starting to build a 408 just wondering if you guys think it is possible to keep these headers will they let me get to 450+ hoping so cuz if i was going to buy headers i would get kooks but i don't feel like dropping 900 bucks for headers right now or i would.

I put a set of mac's on a buddy's 02 Firehawk that melted his stock cats with nitrous, I think 450WHP is a relatively easy target to hit with a 408. I'd say Just about anything is better that thoes MAC's

My input:

-Yes, you can make 450rwhp with Macs. They're going to give up some power throughout the rpm range compared to longtubes, but it can be done. 10 years ago we all ran Macs on everything.
-Do not waste your money on Kooks. Pacesetters do the same damn thing, fit MUCH better (in my opinion), and cost half the price. You can get an entire Pacesetter/Ypipe setup for under $500 shipped to the door.

Macs with a good y-pipe aren't as bad as they are made out to be. Sure american racing 1-7/8 headers will give a couple horse but 4-5hp isn't worth $1200.

I do it with my 383 and A4. So yes it can be done. If you want to change the Y that will help out some, but I am still on the MAC Y to my 2OTL. My car is quiet compared to many LT cars.

On the dyno test I have run the long tubes made more power below peak torque but above peak torque there was only a 1.4hp difference between the long tubes and the mid tubes. So yes they should be able to support 450hp. In that test my motor on the engine dyno made 535hp.
