Default single chamber flowmasters

anybody know any downfalls with these being on an ls1 car with x pipe. if i had y pipe id just go with borla cat and cutout. i have the flows on it now and love the way it sounds. i was just curious if anybody could compare them to anything.

Pertaining to what? Sound? Performance? The drone you sometimes get with flowmaster is the only downfall I see. They flow well so I dont see that being an issue. Flowmaster has gotten a bad rap around here from their crossflow muffler which was simply not designed as well as it could have been, and therefor doesnt flow a whole lot better then stock. The crossflow and the single chamber are nowhere near alike pertaining to performance.

Performance. I dont care much for the flowmaster catback. Had a 00 ta with the flowcat on it and didnt really care for it. Retaining to dual exaust though iv always prefured the single chamber flows. I always figured that they flowed good i was just wanting to get more opinions on them.

Yes they flow well. My 4 inch version has a **** ton of drone about 1500 rpms, but at WOT its pure music.

Here's my set-up.

very nice set up you have there. iv thought of cutting my floor boards up as well to give me more clearance. and since nobody ever sits in the back it wont be that much of an issue for me.

^^^my rear seat is complete with no indication that the floor has been cut. That was my goal for that project.

The single chambers flow well. But, they don't really have a refined tone, and they're extremely loud. I liked mine when I was just a bolt-on LS1, and I like them on my bolt-on LT1. But, with the new motor in the T/A, they were way too loud, and didn't give me the tone I was looking for.

really, i love the way they sound on a cammed motor. and i can definitely tell the difference between flowmasters and other mufflers. ha and even though i would love the way my car sounds, it could sound alot better. i hit 180k on it last week and i can really tell that it has that many miles. and nothing on the car has been replaced. all stock.

1 chambers and Xpipe... Sex....

Ms4 cam
Camera does not do it justice.. Sound thousand times better than any bullet type muffler and flow better than any other chambered mufflers. IMO you can't beat them. They are definitely too loud to DD with xpipe before the axle. I did it 1 1/2 years and couldn't stand it. Absolute zero rasp.

i have 2.5 inch cherry bomb single chambers and like them. my borlas were louder. the only difference in the cherry bomb single chambers and the flomasters is the angle of the chamber on the inside is turned. no drone over 1600. below that a little bit but its works good i can cruise 70-75 with no drone
