Default having trouble replacing starter on 1998 TA

I just got my new starter put in but the issue is that every time plug my battery, it shoots out sparks and melted the thread and it seems that my car wants to start up too. I checked everything and it looks good, I even took out the starter a couple of times to double check the connections. What could it be?

Check the wire connectors on the starter as they can rotate and touch when tightened. Also if connectors are ok check that the wiring is clear of the post as you can have a short from wire to post.Been there, done that so just something to check.
