Default what headers?

So I'm looking to upgrade from the stock exhaust manifold, but i want to be able to pass smog. the price is unimportant. i just would like to know what would be the best set of smog legal headers. I'm not sure if that's a unrealistic question because I've yet to find any for California.

What year car do you have? I believe you will see no gains from shorty headers in 01-02 cars because they recieved a better flowing manifold from the factory.

But there are tons of guys on here who run longtubes in CA and have never been caught or any problems caused.
