Angry Electrical Problems?

My 99 camaro has gone through 3 pep boys alternators. I put them in connect them right changed the battery, charged it full, changed the ground, and they all die within 2 weeks.
a local shop i called said only gm ones work but the stealership wants 450 for it.
Anyone have another solution?

and on a side note the little time the car is running im getting a ticking noise from the passenger side of the motor at all times of driving especially loud in-between shifts. and I cant bang gears at high rpms. I have to hold it in neutral for 2 seconds before it will go into second or 3rd anywhere above 4500 rpms. Im no mechanic but I can do my own oil changes and little things that only require average tools so would I be able to fix these?

This car is my first v8 coming from a little 4 banger sentra so its all new to me.
