Default had another mishap with the fast intake manifold install

after my day got somewhat bad realizing i didn't have the 2 plugs for the coolant pipe in the back, i was looking at the oil pressure sending unit, and well it says it can be broken if the manifold is pulled straight out without lifting up to clear it first, and i think i did that. but its still on there it has a little tear across the front. now getting a new one might be hard, dont know the part number and all but also looked like a bitch to get off. but does anyone have anything against some epoxy glue on it or would that be bad. i mean its just a little tear along the front wear in sits on its housing right behind the manifold, any suggestions?

Just get a new one. Easiest solution.
Word of advice: DO IT RIGHT THE 1ST TIME. This way, you don't have to pull the manifold back off after you try to ghetto fix it.

How could you mess up the sending unit? There is nothing on the manifold that surrounds it. And I'm betting the local gm dealership could get ya that part number real quick. I bet someone could get one hell of a show watching you work on this thing lol.

Its easy to mess up. The flange for the brake booster actually wraps behind the sending unit, which is why so many people break it.

Sending unit it like 20$ at auto zone. You need to get the socket for it while you're there.

Lots and lots of people break 'em when they're doing it on the F Body... It's a lot easier to do on the GTOs.

Ah I see. Ya mine doesn't Have anything wrapped around it. I've never messed with one on the f body though. Glad I learned this for the future.

What was it? 1 1/4" Socket? 1 1/2"? Easiest way to tell is buy the replacement part and match a socket for it while it's in your hand.

1 1/4 but you'll need a special oil pressure sending unit socket that is deeper than a typical deep-well socket.

Just joined the broken oil sending unit club.... .

It happened when I reinstalled the manifold, somehow the brake booster hose got snagged and I didnt catch it, nor did it appear snagged.

Finished up the install a few mins later just standing in front of the car about to connect the battery and a loud snap. Almost sounded like an electrical pop!

Reached behind the manifold to find a hanging broken oil sending unit, max pressure on the gauage!!

Oh well.....time for a new one. Still pissed me off, just thinking bout it.

I have NO idea how this thing as such a variety of strength. I pulled my engine and transmission last weekend and got the damn sender hooked on the cowl, it actually damaged the metal under there and didn't harm the stupid sender at all.

On one of my old motors I looked at the sender wrong and it snapped in half like a twig.
