Default V-band clamp installation question.

I'm going to install v-band clamps on my kooks header to a custum y-pipe. Exhaust shop around here are not too famelier with this clamp. How should the rings be installed on the header and the y-pipe.
I'm thinking that I should have 4-5 mm extra tube length on the header side and on the y-pipe the tube should go inside the ring the same distance. Or should both the tubes be flush with the rings.
Thanks for the help.

it really depends on the style I believe. The ones we use at work we slide the header side on the collector and tack it in place, then bolt the other side to it and tighten it down. Then build start building the rest of the exhaust system from there back.

if they dont have experience with v-bands, take it somewhere else. if the v-bands get too hot when welding, they will warp and then they are junk.
