Default 241/243 casting ?

meet a rep for a local shop. he said that they can do the work on 241 or 243 heads that will flow 280cfm for 1k. i would like to keep the original heads. what do you all think? the work is for what they consider strip/street head work.

for that price you can get heads from sponsors here that should flow 290-300 and likely be better at the areas under peak flow

if the price includes the heads why is it the same for 241 or 243? doesn't make much sense

243 are worth money, ls1 heads you can barely give away for $100 or less complete

You say they can do the work on a set of heads for 1k, does that include the heads? If not I'd agree with thunderstruck, you can get some 241 or 243 heads for a little under or a little over that will flow better from some of our sponsors without the need for a core.

It'd also be about a bit cheaper if you shop around for the 243 heads and then have them do the work.

$1k for the head work only I would provide the heads.
but he said they can make the 241 heads flow as much as the 243 heads.

$1k for labor is steep for those flow numbers when ls1 experts are doing it for about the same or less

A certain place in dallas area will port, mill, valve job, install new dual springs with titanium locks/retainers, ect to your cores for $800. Flow is rated 295 intake 210 exhaust.

That is a pretty nice claim, but I'd find out what all goes into a 1k job. If it is just a hand port, then I think that is a bit over priced, especially on a set of 241's.

Not good Idea..... get TSP heads their prc ls6 flow I think At 315 cfm or around that and their new just for a bit over a thousand if you buy 243 for cheap just take them to get ported for about 300 they do it over here. My brother bought some 243 for 400 shipped and including pay pal fees with valves and everything..
