That would be my guess. Just need to determine which polarity your hooking up on the meter.
I would check the one in question with others in the OHMs dept.
Is there a problem with one?

Pin D on each coil is the +12VDC terminal.
Pin A on each coil is ground.

Probe the two with an Ohm-meter...you'll likely find 7 coils showing very close resistance measurements, and one out in the weeds.

Be careful you do *not* probe pins B (Ignition Control Signal) or C (Low Rev) with a meter or you risk damaging the electronics of the module.

I don't believe there is a way to test it really. I had to replace a coil on my old 3800 bird I had and it was bulged and cracked. No **** it was bad, but it still ohm specked to what it was supposed to be. The ohms tell you resistance not function. May have the correct ohms, but might be low on firing voltage ect. Make sense?

Are the pins labeled on all coils?

Here in reality, that makes no sense at all.

A coil is nothing more than a transformer that steps up voltage. Resistance across the terminals is an empirical indicator of output voltage capability.

The OP hasn't told us why he's testing his coils so it's tough to guess what problem he's having w/ his car.

Every LS1/LS6 car I've encountered had the pin labels molded into the coil module connector surface...not like it matters, the two pins you care about are on either end. Pins are A-B-C-D and you're probing A and D.

all you need to do is witch 2 coils around and see if you get the same problem on the cylinder you switched the "bad" one to
