Default Where to install an oil temperature sensor...

for a 2000 Z28 automatic?

Just like the title says. Where do you put the sender for an electric sensor? I do a lot of autocrossing/track and would like to be able to monitor my oil temps.

Going to be doing a transmission temp gauge too. It seems that the sending unit from autometer will fit right in the pressure port which is great. Unless one of you has a better location?

Thanks!

scratch that. after doing some reasearch it would appear that most people drill and tap the piece above the oil filter for the 1/8" NPT fitting.

Are you talking about that little piece that sticks out horizontally and is held on by two bolts?

Thanks!

glow shift gauge pods have a sensor and adapter that go between the oil filter and pick up. No drilling and tapping.

I drilled and tapped the piece by the filter. Very easy, no problems going on 4 years now.
