Default ls6 IM and what TB???

I tried googleing how big i can go, or whats the best one for overall performance but got pretty much nothin. Most Ive seen people go with a 85mm or just p&p your stock one. Why not port the 85mm, or get a 90mm? etc

I`m wanting to stick with my ls6 IM due to the fact 900$$ for 15-20hp, then another 300-400 for a throttle body isn`t my cup of tea.

thank you for you time

mods(h/c combo) headers, true duals x pipe.

Stick with a ported stocker, no reason to get a TB that's bigger than the intake mouth.

Most 85's are aftermarket and don't need a port job as they are pretty smooth already.

And a larger throttle body won't help unless you port the opening of the intake itself. Otherwise all that extra air is just running into a wall.

The easiest is just to port a stock TB.

ok, thanks for the help.

if i decided to go with a fast combo, if i ended up spending the extra doe, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the sizes, 90-92-100-102mm. The bigger the better or the the size affect where the power is delivered? the smaller size(92mm) go more throughout the powerband?? or the 102mm mainly kick in at higher rpm?

please excuse me if this is hard to understand

the biggest you can hog your stock ls6 intake out is to 85mm, you can get a different mouth put on and run a 90mm tb. Your best bang for your buck is a ported stock one which you can do for yourself in an hours time.

I think I read something about the new FAST (102?) having better runner design that has shown to make a little more power. I don't think you'll loose any real amount of power (if any) on the low end by going from a 90 to a 102 either.

If you want a FAST pick up a 90/92 used and save some $$$$....IMO a 102 is overkill unless you go bigger cubes.....

a 102 will gain over a 90 or a 92 on stock cubes. But try to keep an eye out for them on ebay. They pop up every so often
