Question Spark Plug's time to change !!

I tried a few searches here & there for a proper write up on how to CORRECTLY install spark plug's with PROPER GAPPING !! ...
Got 8 NGK TR55 Spark Plug's,
NOT TO MENTION THE STOCK 99 EXHAUST MANIFOLD'S =(
Can somebody please help me understand how to gap my spark plug's ??
what are the tool's required for an easy day of work (not to spend 1/2 a day on 1 plug) .... i think a write up haven't yet been done in this forum, right ?

Any USEFULL input is appreciated =)
regards

Should be all you need besides a 5/8 deep well socket and ratchet

I also found a a few extensions helpful, I used a .75" and 3", IIRC.

And #8 is WAY easier from underneath, unless you have arms like Popeye. I was able to do the plug AND wire from underneath. It was actually pretty easy, IIRC #6 was harder.

I started to do that, but the last bolt was such a PITA to get at I said the hell with it and left them on. It was easy enough to do with them on, the only thing is the heads of the bolts will dig into your arm a bit at times.

After you remove the last bolt on the passenger side coil pack bracket thow the bolt away..you do not need it..unles you have a 1998 model..if so disreguard that thow it away statement...

The last set of TR55s I got were actually really close to the stock recommended gap.

I don't have too much trouble getting to the plugs even with the coil packs on (#8 actually isn't the worst for me, but then again, I'm short enough that I can put a knee on the battery and lean/lay into the engine bay), it's the god damned plug boots that drive me insane. My hands are too big to really fit down in there, so I'm always trying to figure out if the damned boots are seated right.

Force yourself and get that last bolt.. You're right it is a PITA.. But when you go and put the coil brackets back on jsut leave that bolt off.. I did

Stupid question.. When you gap a plug, where do you want the plug to sit on the gapper?

So say you are gappign the plug to .060" do you want the .060" number to read on the middle of the plug, or to the left or right side of the plug?

The tool gaps the plug wider as the plug moves around the gap tool. In the picture above, the plug is gapped to 0.040. If you measured at the middle, the gap would be slightly larger (the width of the spark plug comes into play here, as it rotates up the "ramp" of the tool).

I was going to draw an MS paint picture to illustrate my point, but you really don't want to see my horribly lacking MS paint skills.

Yeah I know that the gap gets bigger lol..

So in that pic, you say that's at .040".. Now are you looking at the right side of the edge of the plug? That's how I see the .040"

I changed my plugs out a few thousand miles ago and I can't remember what I gapped them at. It was what everybody on the board suggests. I am gonna change them again when I do the LT's. Just wondering what the suggested gap size was. Car says .060, but thats too big of a gap according to the LS1 gurus.
Can't believe I forgot what I gapped them at. lol

I am thinking thats what I gapped them at when I changed them. I am also wondering if its worth changing them since they'll have like 2000 miles on them when I do LT's.

Sorry, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. I just figured I'd be as descriptive as possible in case others reading had the same questions.
