Default Start motor without trans/flexplate?

I pulled the motor to do a front end swap, and I also pulled the 6spd, to swap for a manual setup.

Can I start the motor, with NO flexplate/trans etc connected? I know some motors are externally balanced and some are internally balanced.

Just wanted to fire it up quick before I keep doing other things.

how would you turn the motor over? The starter rides the outside of the flexplate or the flywheel.

There is no problems doing that. I have done it before to verify work before putting the trans in. Just make sure your harness is not near the flexplate or you might have a problem.

It likely wont idle. As a matter of fact I can gaurantee it won't idle. Changing anything pertaining to rotating mass will throw the idle way off. It sometimes takes ten minutes for the computer to relearn it. Be prepared to feather the throttle to keep it running.
