Thinking of a trade Z for a GOAT
I am not sure where to post this so hear goes. I am thinking of selling my 01 pewter Z28 a4 so i can get a 05-06 goat m6 6.0.
I am wondering what are my loss's from going for the Z to the GOAT, besides the t-tops and slick long style.
I have always had 5.0 5spds and my camaro is a a4 and I miss having some gears to shift so i have been looking at the goats now with the m6.
I love my Z but I had to have a back operation last oct so getting in and out can sometimes be hurtful with the sloped winsheild so I was looking at something a little easier to get into like the goat.
thanks for any info

The GTO will be a slower car that is harder to make "fast" in relative terms. They are near 4000lbs with a driver and under powered. The LS2's aren't quite as bad, but it takes about 500rwhp in a GTO to outrun a 450rwhp F-body.
GTO's are nice cruisers that can be decently quick, but if you want something fast then you need to keep the Z28. Convert it to a 6 speed if you want a manual that bad. The swap will be cheaper than the trouble/$$ spent selling your car/buying a GTO.
Here's a comparison for food thought. 2 of my customers raced recently. Car A was a 440rwhp heads/cam GTO, Car B was a 420rwhp cam only SS. 4 out of 4 races, the SS wiped the GTO out. They even switched drivers on the last 2 races and the end result was the same. Both cars were 6 speeds.

My brother i law has a 06 M6 with a cam and i got an 02 Z28 M6 thats almost stock just headers and a K&N filter and i whipe him everytime! his has about 30k miles nd has had both half shafts replaced, and is needing a clutch now, so IMO the GTO is a hunk of junk and they aint that comfortable either.

Ford has never did anything for me. Maybe it's the lack of style the Mustang has. Sure it's got a new 5.0, but in the end the styling hasn't really changed in the passed 10 years. The new 5.0 GT doesn't have anything on a 4th Gen F-Body or even 5th Gen Camaro, being superior IMO in both style and performance. 60k for a Shelby Super SnakeŽ come on That's Grand Sport territory (END RANT)

BTW, this thread belongs in the General LSX Discussion forum where such things are bandied about.
