Default temp gauge question

after a new temp sending unit and finding the actual temperature my car was running at with external thermometer from the cooling shop, i found that my temp gauge inside the car is wrong.

what would i need to fix this gauge? would i just need a new gauge overlay or will that not change the actual gauge itself? thanks

every one of our gauges are notorious for being innacurate. pretty much the only fix are aftermaket gauges
