Smile Who is running a fast 102mm intake & 102mm TB

Who is running a fast 102mm intake & 102mm TB?? I have a 90/90 setup on a 383 and planing to upgrade to a 102/102 setup?? guys running it, do you guys think Its worth it?? also what size MAF are you guys running because I think is pointless if your MAF is smaller then your TB it becomes a restriction correct me if I'm wrong! on my 90/90 setup my MAF is also ported to 90mm

I thnk its worth it as a great supporting mod. I actually gained 20HP from the swap coming from an LS6 intake which is great considering that people have claimed no gain on a stock 346. As far as MAF, IMO I would go closed loop speed density and remove the MAF.

PatrickG had no issues tuning the setup and the car runs ******* great!

I think the largest aluminum intake is 96mm by typhoon, texas speed has a deal a fast intake 102mm & PTM 102mm TB for 1175 that's about 825 for the intake and 350 for the TB not bad but if you want only the intake I found it for 799 free shipping! if someone is interested send me a PM and I will send you the website

I run the fast 102/NW 102 DBW TB/SNL 100mm Maf and a custom made intake that sits down in front of my radiator and the neck on that is 96mm. I had that before I swapped the intake. I'm all bolt ons, on my bone stock/never opened ls2 and its got me in the 11's with this fat GTO. I picked all the parts up form a sponsor on the gto forums, dont think they are over here but the intake was advertised as $799 shipped and since I bought the TB the knocked off a little more. Great group of guys.

exactly, i have a pro products 96 and even though fast IS hands down the best flowing intake, you dont have the added strength of aluminum. i have seen alot of fast's that have cracked or blown out the back from boost or nitrous backfire. a 96mm intake is pretty hefty, may not flow as much but will deffinately see a huge gain from an ls6, especially if you're running a cam over .570" lift and good flowing heads. i read and i know just about every car is different, but a guy running an ls1 gto swapped to the 85mm version and picked up 15hp over ls6 with just bolt on's, and the 96mm version picked up almost another 20 over the 85. so a 96 with a large diameter maf and 25-30 hp over ls6 is very attainable. i personally see a fast as a very over priced piece of plastic and the shitty thing is that they hae the market cornered for very well flowing intakes. i havnt seen any new intakes out besides fast's, so they charge an extremely outragoues price because they know ppl will pay it. imo, there are other options out there besides fast.

No....not true

The FAST flows the most.....makes the most power....and the new 102 is an extremely rugged design. Its actually 3 lbs heavier than the older 90/92 versions which is alot of plastic. It also has individual one piece runners now. Honestly, your not going to have any issues with the new FAST....the design is night and day better than the older version in terms of strength and reliability.

Have me port one for you if you want the ultimate FAST bolt on.....on some of the better heads (like the AFR 245) I'm seeing 320+ CFM's thru the intake (ported)....thats huge....my ported older intakes might have seen low 300's in front of the same cylinder head.

Don't buy an aluminum heat sink for your engine....that's just silly honestly. Even if it could make the same power (which it wont), I would still go with the lighter and better thermal characteristics of the FAST.

Hope this helps...

-Tony

^best in the biz right there ^ take tonys advice, a fast always flows more and will outperform. The aluminum will just gather heat up there while the fast won't.

The fast IS the best intake out there (aside from the high $ sheetmetal and such). You just need to decide if its worth YOUR money.

Have been trying now for a few weeks to get my fast 102 intake & 95 PTM T/B fitted, they don't!!!!
Have now swapped to a 102 PTM T/B, mmmm that don't fit either, my pre-02 LS1 that's been decked & heads skimmed now has the T/B cable mechanism hitting the water pump, so now have to change the water pump to a 04/06 GTO LS2 pump that doesn't have the same protrusion sticking up next to the water pump inlet. thought fast would've made sure these things fitted all scenarios.

so you are saying that if i want to run a 102mm fast intake i have to change my water pump?? how much did you decked the block and milled the heads?? I heard that is made to fit ls2 fuel rails/injectors and that if you want to used ls1 injectors/fuel rails you need the spacer kit

Block was just shaved flat, heads were milled .030, the LS1 water pump needs grinding on the top right, the left side under the T/B cable 1/2 wheel connection hits, the water pump has a protrusion next to the pipe which is in the way. One of the LS2 pumps has the same coned shaped pulley, same inlets & outlets but doesn't have the protrusion thats in the way for me, they have them on e-bay 'jim butler chevrolet selling them, it will help me get some clearance to fit this setup. I first bought a 95 PTM T/B and it didn't fit as the full thickness of the O ring was visible under the T/B.
Really wishing i had stayed with my LS6 manifold now and just updated to a 96 N/W T/B.

My experience with the FAST102LSXr and Nick Williams 102 on a stock cube LS6 (heads and mild cam).
