Wasn't sure if this was the proper forum to post in.
Each time I start my car, the tach and speedometer needle will travel all the way to the right and then back to the left where it will settle (tach moves from 0-6,500 RPMs and then back to 500 RPMs when idling). My tripdometer also resets each time too.
I thought it may be a battery issue with a charge but the clock on my CD player never resets and my car doesn't have charging issues.
Any ideas?

Does the gauge cluster have a small battery in it like a computer in order to save the mileage and trip readings even if you don't have an acutal battery in the car? For example, I stored my Camaro a few years back and completely unhooked the battery. When I reinstalled it 7 months later the actual mileage of the car and trip were the same as when I left it.
