Intake Manifold and Cam ?'s
First question, will a truck intake fit under the cowl of a 97 Camaro? I'm trying not to buy a LS3 Intake with fuel rails and injectors until February.
Second question, what decent cam would you guys recommend for a stock cube LQ4 with 317 aluminum heads with maybe longtubes or truck manifolds and an ory? The only condition I have for the cam is that it must cost less than $300 new or used.

no the truck intake won't fit, you can run an ls1/ls6 intake, as long as your running f-body accessories or have the new idler pulley kit (or whatever it's called) to use the LS1 style intake with truck accessories. As far as cams, for a "cheap" new cam an LS6 isn't a bad choice, but if you look hard enough I'm sure you can find a good used cam, something a little wilder like the MS3 or Torquer V3 might not be a bad choice. Just sucks that your compression is around 9.4:1 IIRC. I say LS6 cam and throw some boost at it

Thanks for the info and that's actually my plan. 9.4:1 is a very boost friendly ratio so in december the camaro is going to get this engine swapped in with a 4l80e and once it's out a pair of hairdryers will soon be making it's home under the hood

lol, priorities. I say if your planning on boosting the "stock" motor, get a cam that will work good when you get to that point. For your price range and future plans, I think the LS6 cam would be nice. A custom grind would be better but out of your price range right now and there have been some nice numbers put down on boosted LS6 cam cars

It's going to be the second truck in the road with that. About 5 years ago IIRC I saw a Duramax dualley with that on it's rear windshield. It definately hauled ***.
