Default O2 sensor ?

My car has been studdering bad and i found the problem the wires were shot and i also found this wired into the Purple wire of the o2's harness. What is it and why would it be there. To me it looks like its a diode but why?

That was wired into the rear o2 to fool the computer into thinking the cats were still operating. It causes a voltage drop across the diode the computer sees as the cat working. The computer compares the frt o2 output to rear o2 output, if the rear output is lower it assumes the cat is there and working.

Its a poor mans O2 simulator.

It WAS in for the rear O2's, right? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. The rear o2's don't have any effect on the mixture.

Yea that's what i thought it was for was to fool the computer for some reason. But I have the simulators in the rear O2's It was in the front O2's and that's why i am confused as hell.

I know that this was not my stuttering problem though the other wires were just worn out and had wire showing and was getting wet and the fact that the O2 was loose did not help the fact any. So i am just trying to find out what the hell the diode was doing in the front O2.

Useless for the front, if anything creating issues. remove it from the front and check the other bank for extra wiring.

Well ill be honest my car is a *****. I know a lot of the history of my car and when it was factory they said it was a factory freak. Then it started to get a lot of boltons and Spray. And i know the car has been tuned before but still dont explain the diode in the front.
