Default Driveshaft question

My rear dif was changed completely back in Feb '10 .. Bolt broke off internally and shot out of the rear pumpkin seal leaving this perfect Hex shape.
Anyway ... it was all replaced

I've been getting for a couple of months a sound that almost could be brakes rubbing, but replaced the brakes and still have the sound. Also have a vibration coming from the rear. Have new tires front and back as well, balanced and good to go ..

I tonight needed to replace my starter .. took about 5 mins to set up w/ jack and stands ... 10 -15 mins to replace then cleared the jacks ... etc ...

I got back behind the car and checked the drive shaft

MY QUESTION-

I was able to rotate my drive shaft about 5 degrees by hand while it was on the ground and the rear axle did not move. I kept the rear tires stationary.
The rear U joint looked solid but it of course looked like it was moving in the diff the 5 degrees or so .. is this normal or should the drive shaft be SOLID and not move?

Hope I covered the details ...
