Default Question on LS6 intake issue

Swapping the intake off a 2003 LS6 with 120,000 miles and I notice years of oil build up caked to the inside (assume from the PCV). I clean with degreaser and lots of hot water but there is still lots of "rough spots" and some build up I could not reach. And before I get the wise cracks , yes it was off the car. So the questions are........

1). How much will this effect Hp/Tq?

2). Is it worth cleaning it out back to like new?

3). If I do need to clean near perfect, what should I use?

BTW, engine will end up being forced induction down the road, if that makes a difference in your answer. Thx

Brake cleaner does a good job of breaking down that kind of build up.

Residue in the plenum chamber will have very little affect on torque/power, but residue past the plenum might have some.

Residue may come off in time and run thorugh your motor, but I cannot see that being a big deal.

put the intake in a deep tub and fill it up with a degreaser or gas and let it soak for a day or 2.

wd40 and toothbrush or a small wire brush like in a golf bag or gun cleaning kit.

I soaked mine in gasoline, cleaned it off completely but i soaked it for several hours not a whole day or two. Had oil buildup, I bought it off a member here.

i had mine cleaned in a CUDA [its the big parts washers with the high pressure nozzles and hot soapy water solution] it came out flawlessly. if you know a mechanic or a machinist chances are theyl have access to one and it will save you alot of messin around. or any machine shop would clean it for a small fee.

A big tub that the whole intake fits in, and Home Depot's Zep citrus cleaner mixed 50-50 with water. Let it soak for a day, moving it around once in a while.

i'll bet seafoam in a spray bottle would do a pretty good job, you might not even have to scrub it.
