Default best shift points for bolt-on ls1?

My shift points are at 6100 right now. I was thinking about getting them moved up to about 6350 or so. Anybody know what would be the best shift points to go with, with my mods in sig?

I'd keep them right where they are the ls1 cam starts to fall off fast after 6k that and the valvesprings will float pretty bad at anything above 6200 or so. The ls6 springs and cam have the limiter around 6600 and shift points set at 6400 or so but its a little much for an ls1.

you want it to shift at peak hp so the motor rpms fall back to peak torque rpms.you want to use the sweet spot of your power band.

Most people are going to tell you to shift sooner than I do, but it definitely can help to shift closer to 62-6300 as long as your drivetrain is up for it. My cousin had a 98 stock internal car, and his car fell off much faster than my 01 and 02 because of his valvetrain.

If you have to pay to tune it each time, I probably wouldn't mess with it, but if you can change it yourself then experiment some and see what works best for you.

I am getting it retuned for a 160 thermostat and my stall anyway so I figured I would have them bump up the shift points a little if it would help. So from what you guys are saying I might just have them bump up to about 6250 to help shift extension a little bit.

It's hard to say, it could even slow your car down, that's why I was saying it's nice to be able to test it out and change it. If you dot have your own tuning software that can be pricey quick!

well before the cam I had it set at 6500. Too low and you'll drop too many rpm's at shifts.

IMO, unless you at least have a upgraded valve springs I really don't see the benefit in raising the shift points higher.

this. plus the torque on a stock cam will fall off around 6000.

I dont think setting my shift points up 150 is going to hurt me at all. I went 150 here on 1-2 shift point and 100 rpm higher on 2-3 shift point.

I don't get why you had multiple people tell you not to raise it on a stock valve train when everyone with these cars knows how weak the stock springs are yet you're still asking for people to chime in hoping for someone to say what you want to hear? You upped it from 150 on a stock cam, I don't think that'll hurt but it sure as hell didn't help. And when you drop a valve you really didn't help yourself huh?

There is plenty to be gained as long as his valvetraine is in good shape. If it's weak then what you said is true.

Ok this is a strong bone stock car....Peak HP occurs around 5300 and starts dropping fast at 5800... Peak tq. occurs about 4100 and starts dropping like a brick at 5100.....

Sooooooo.......Even IF the weakass springs were up to spinning 6100+ you will gain nothing except beating up your valvetrain and most probably run slower... I don't get it
