Andrew at complete street told me that the stock maf really bottle necks the system and just going up to a 85mm he sees some good gains over the stock one. I think he said usually 8rwhp but I would only imagine it being more with a 100mm

I have a TSP 100mm maf that I installed with the FAST 102 LSXr intake and FAST 102 TB. MAF is dissabled at the present. The one tuner that has tuned my car recently does not like to tune with the aftermarket MAFs. You will get many different opinions on the MAF vs SD tunes, but if you have a big motor that needs the extra air, the bigger MAF is definitely a good option

I had an 85mm screened MAF with old FAST 90 and 90mm TB. My car feels MUCH stronger now with the new intake setup, but have not had it dynoed yet.

I've read that people gain quite a bit going from the stocker to even an 85mm MAF. I'm personally hoping to see some big gains with the 102/102 and 100mm maf over my LS6/78 stock MAF setup.

^ I was thinking about that too. It would kill the cost of the MAF replacement. I had mixed answers about it. SD or not to SD...

My old car was a H/C/I 347, I saw maybe 2-3 RWHP going from a stock screened MAF to an 85mm.

To the OP - what intake manifold do you have on your car? Are you pulling any vacuum @ WOT?

My current SS saw no gains with a larger MAF, the restriction now is my intake manifold. (factory LS6)

Take it FWIW... I got 2-3 RWHP on my old car - forged 347, AFR 205's, cam, Mammo-ported FAST 90mm, 90mm NW TB, Kooks LT's, TSP 3" duals, etc, etc. It made 500+ RW on a "happy" dyno. It made about 20 less than that on my tuner's dyno - aka "the feeling hurter."

I gained 9hp going from a stock mass to a 85mm mass. Now on my 402ci the 85 mass is maxed out. we took out the screen and it gained a few more hp,but it's at the limit. I am looking to run the tsp 100mm mass also this spring. I hope it runs as goos as my 85mass does.

Yes. And FWIW... George C. here had a heads & cam 347 about 10 years ago that ran 9.90's with the factory MAF. IIRC - they tried larger MAF ends on it, and it gained zilch. Do what you like, but it's money better spent elsewhere.

yeah this is a touchy subject. IMHO the MAF is not a major restriction. on my h/c set up i focused on mid range and i am very happy with my curve. i can't really see spending the money on an 85 until somebody comes out with definitive proof showing why i need to upgrade. OR when i finally make the jump to a FAST i will upgrade.

With a LS6 IM/TB combo the maf is not gonna be a restriction IMO.

My old car had a Mammo ported FAST 90 and 90mm Nick W TB... as stated in an earlier post - picked up a whopping 2.3 RWHP. The car had enough nuts to carry the front tires and run 10.70's @ 3700+ lbs. Take it FWIW...

The bigger the motor the more air needed, no matter what you use

until i got my FAST i would not have touched the MAF. i now have an 85mm one. Thinking about getting a 4" tube and sticking the LS3/7 card style MAF in.

From fluid mechanics class we learned volumetric flow rate is constant, and only velocity and pressure change with diameters...Look at the cooling towers for a nuclear reactor they have a hyperbolic shape to them to increase draft. Maybe some of this is theory can be applied to our intakes.
