Default Loudness battle

Me and a few friends were debating the loudest exhaust set up on a bolt on only car. We cant seem to agree though.

I said a cut out in the I pipe with LT headers would be the loudest

He said LM1 with LT headers is louder

My other buddy disagreed and said true duals w/ bullet mufflers.

We could all agree that TD's is the best sounding out of the three though haha.

In this order in my opinion, assuming that they all have no cats and loudness while at WOT:TSP True Duals, Cut-outs with LT headers, and then LM1 with LT headers.

Would the list be different if the 3 set ups had cats?

LM1 is loud any way you look at it. I have a cutout w/lt's and it's quiter than lt's and LM1. Both w/o cats

I think the cut-out in the I-pipe would be the loudest, but if you really want it loud and improve the flow the most, then go with dual cut-outs in the Y-pipes.

Thats what I thought. Since you would pretty much be running open headers with a cut out.

Also my car is away for the winter so I dont plan on doing anything, we were just debating the subject.

having experienced both, the Longtubes and LM1 is the loudest.

No doubt in my mind Longtubes/LM1 when i was just full exhaust is louder than my 3" duals with dynomax bullet setup.

At start up they are both extremely loud. LM1 is loud/raspy, and drone is pretty unbearable. Duals with bullets suprisingly isnt loud at all inside the cabin and i have a 230 cam as well. You can still carry a conversation and its mellow at crusing speeds. Hardly any drone at all even around 2k rpms.

This is whats going on with my car right now due to a clamp failing. So now I have open Y pipe. Its cool for right now til I can get it welded up. Sure beats the hell out of the Magnaflow thats on my car. I like seeing people turn around a block away.

Are you just going for it to be loud, or do you want it to sound good as well?
Whats the point in wanting it to be the loudest if it sounds like crap.

Loud Mouth plut LT's sound like ***.

I think dumped TD's with bullets would be the loudest. Hell, I had TD's with single chambers ran to the bumper and it was a lot louder than my buddy's 2000 SS, especially once I went with the H/C 6.0. But, he had LT's with cats and an LM2, so it'd be quieter than no cats and LM1.
