Default Looking for experience with "Painless" engine wiring harness

I am doing a restore on a 2002 C5 Z06 M6. Unfortunately, the factory wiring harness has seen better days with dry rotted shielding old harness connectors. I fear this will cause gremlins in the future. I have always heard that Painless makes great plug and play wiring harnesses. I wondered if anyone had good or bad experiences with them. I know it can be critical for the wiring type and length to match up with what the stock specifications and have heard of some people having problems with sensors after extending or modifying the harness. Painless has an "plug and play" setup that seems like it would fit my car for just under $900 and while I have everything appart I am considering the investment. Any pros, cons, or other manufacturers would be greatly appreciated and considered. Thanks in advance.

You can buy new from GM for $8-900 and not have to worry about fitment

FWIW, an 8 y/o harness has nothing to worry about unless its been left in the sun uncovered for most of its life. If the PO hacked up areas, then sure look for a replacement. A salvage company would be a better price. Age should affect much of anything for another 15 or so years. I routinely deal with 80's harnesses that still work fine
