ls6 valley cover swap on lq4
i got a 99 gmc wit a lq4 6.0 stock, i want to swap my stock valley cover to the better ls6 one cause for less oil consumption, my truck got 217,000 miles on her
the question iam asking is when i do the swap do i need to cut the block lik the older ls1, i heard on the lq4 u didnt,
also, can i use my stock coolent vent lines, or do i need other ones, if so which ones n part #
can i use my stock vortec intake manifold, without any clearines issues, valley cover bolts??
and last how to run the pcv system,
let me know if i misssed anything, thanks
i know got alot of question, but i just want to know, thanks

I dont think the truck blocks need to be cut. However, I just did this swap and it resulted in excessive crankcase pressure which caused oil to blow out of the rear main seal. I left the stock LS1 PCV lines in place. The fix was LS6 valve covers which have the 2 rear ports blocked off. You do not need PCV lines with the LS6 set-up. I would recommend you do the same or block the ports off your existing valve covers to mimic the full LS6 PCV system, not just one part of it.

Correct, I have an 07 LQ4 block with a 2nd design ls6 cover on it with no fittment issues. I also bent the stock ls1 steam lines to fit around the pcv nipple and was able to use them with the ls6 cover. I wanted to vent all 4 corners of the heads anticipating installing a procharger to hopefully help keep it alive.
