Default Can I do this?

Can you band clamp a cutout after the y -pipe but connected? Thunder Racing has a stainless steel cutout (non electric) and was thinking of connecting it to the end of my O/R Y by just band clamps unless you HAVE to weld it. Any thoughts? Thanks!

i dont see why you couldnt band clamp it. you woul have to get a pipe expander to open up the end of the y pipe so you could slip fit the cutout into it.

That's gonna be real loud

And I don't see why that would be a problem.

i don't see a problem with that but would definitly get the y pipe expanded, or even the tip of the cutout. but may i make a suggestion, go with a QTP electric cutout...it will be alot less hassle in the end and you could close it from inside your car!

I love the idea of an electric one and have been tossing around the idea but wouldn't I still have to expand the Y-pipe? What about the other end that goes toward the muffler ( I still would need that welded correct?

My 3" y pipe end is reduced to fit stock catback so therfore should slide inside the 3" cutout and then I could clamp that down but I am going to have to cut the stock pipe that once went to the y pipe so the cutout fits then weld it onto that. confusing but thats what I need to do. The stock cat back should fit inside the 3" cutout is what I am saying.
