Default 3in catalytic converter

I am trying to peice together an exhaust for my 98 TA and I have some long tube headers from TSP and I was wondering if there is a 3in to 3in catalytic converter out there.

There's a ton of them out there. The challenge can be finding a pair that will fit under the car behind LTs. That brace under the drivers side is the biggest problem. Notice how small the cats are that come with the LTs?

You also want a metallic core.
Go thunderbolts.
Can't beat them for the money.
Fitment is great.

Oh yeah, did I mention they're a fraction of the cost of the other ones out there?

I'm certain it's due to the probabilty of the ceramic bricks breaking apart. Shouldn't have that problem with the metal bricks.

I found this to be an ok read regarding the subject:

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=874626

FWIW I run dual ceramic Magnaflow cats on my truck. They seem to do great for passing emissions but the ceramic inside is brittle so they break quite easy as mentioned above. I just had one of my cats replaced last week because I noticed a slight exhaust rattle awhile back. After removal I noticed half of the ceramic matrix was gone. Apparently I blew it all out of the exhaust doing some WOT passes or something.

If I had to do it again I would probably use the metallic catalytic converters. Come to think of it, I may try out the metallic cats next time around if I can find some that are the same length as my current cats.

I've got the cheapest, highest-flowing, best fitting, most reliable cats on the market. None.

Damn thanks guys. MattaxFatal your a badass I spent months looking for good cheap cats. The set up will be on a 98 Trans Am with 3" TSP LT headers I guess those Thunderbolt cats and a TSP X pipe with bullet mufflers.

Question for those with the metallic core cats - do they still do a good job of cutting out rasp? I've found some cats that are 200 cell (looks like the Thunderbolts are 300 cell), but I want to make sure it takes care of the sound issue just like a ceramic core converter does.

I have metallic cores with no rasp. I have a nice merge too though.

No worries man.
Pass it on, as it was passed to me.

That setup is going to sound damn good bro.
I've got a custom FM-M Y dumped that I'm thinking about converting into dumped duals.
Good luck.

FWIW, when I was grappling with rasp on my GMMG after LT install, a sponsor who carried both told me that the metallic core cats would not cut rasp as well as the ceramic cats.
