Default oil on tb

just bought my first ls1 yesterday and today i changed the air filter because the previous owner hadn't done it in 2 years. when i took the lid off I saw crap in the maf sensor and a little bit of oil on the tb blade and around the outside. should i be concerned?????

from what i have read on this forum ls1 ones will burn an average of a quart of oil between oil changes i've been told to buy a catch can. to help with the oil in the induction hope this helps mine looked the same way when i bought it a few months ago

Well a pic would help but they prob. just needs a good cleaning. A dirty LS TB and MAP is really not a big deal just clean them-be jentle and enjoy.

you have the stock PCV system............which lets ALOT of oil into the intake......thats why people switch over to LS6 valley covers ......and or ..........catch cans

what would exactly have to been done to install a ls6 intake what would have to be removed mods etc etc?? and if i run a ls6 intake or aftermarket like a fast would i still need a catch can

sorry to hijack here, but if you switch to an LS6 intake, do you still need a catch can?

^ yep... Still the same PCV system, regardless of the intake. Unless you change it to an LS6 valley where people still run the catch can.

i dont have a catch can on my LS6 valley cover conversion........not a necessity IMO

^ I did the LS6 valley conversion with my 102/102 swap. Haven't ran it yet, but I'm gonna give it some time before I do a catch can. I may do one on the line coming from the VC to the TB. All this "dirty and clean side" stuff is news to me, but I still see any vacuum pulling fumes from the VC is a bad thing.
