Default Those ORY's for stock manifolds/ worth it?

I thought I'd be doing lts ory the whole 9....but funds are short for awhile (new house payment)....until then....would replacing this shitty flat stock catted y with one of the orys that hook up to stock manifolds be worth it?

I figured a couple hp gains/alittle better sound over the flat stock one

Theirs a couple to chose from the ws6 store....it's easy to do with no modification so I figured I could come up with 2or 300$ max if it's worth it.. That stock y has to be robbing some hp...

what do you guy's think....

if you can run headers save up for good headers and a matching ORY.

That's what I did, I have Stock manifolds, mac ORY with a borla in the back, the extra power and sound is worth it! and it was only $200 bucks and easy as hell to put on, the merge is shitty though because it's raspy as hell at 2100~2500 RPMs. but I think it would be best to save up the extra $200 for LT's and ORY. I should be receiving my Pacesetters LT's tommorrow and I'm betting that I will regret not having gone with LT's to begin with.

I'd try to get my hands on a used one first, if not, get new and enjoy until you can afford LT's.

Aside from the sound change I doubt you will be able to feel any increase in HP. From what I read the flattened Y does not really hinder performance that bad on a stock car. The cat delete would add a few but not worth 2-3 hundred dollars. I would put your funds elsewhere or just save up for LT's.

And its one thing to not want LT's so you get shorties or a new Y, but if you want LT's eventually you will never be happy with a new Y pipe. And these really don't hold value as well as other after market parts so you would probable take a huge hit on it if you did decide to get rid of it.

I just bought pacesetter headers and ory for $150 used. I would look around before buying just a y pipe for 2 or 300. Just my .02.

Not worth it really. It's just like buying a V6 Camaro because you have that much money right now, but if you saved your cash and bought an SS, you would have no regrets and be much happier.

I think one of those Y's would be a waste of money, just save up. If your really that anxious to purchase something, pick which headers you want and buy the Y that goes with them. That way you can just stare at it, and use it as motivation to save money for LT's! Lol.

just like everyone said save up for LTs you wont really gain much by removing cats. the flat Y isnt a big of a deal. if your on budget go with a used exhaust! it changes nth to be used or new it will rust anyway

If I had a house payment, I honestly wouldn't bother spending any money on car modifications. Every bit of extra money you can put towards mortgage payments to pay it off earlier and pay less interest will be worth it in the long run.

Even on a full exhaust high flow cats are only going to cost you about 3-5 horsepower. I actually think most systems sound much better with cats.

i gave $45 for my ory. bought it used off of this site.

however, i don't plan on installing headers and i actually made about $100 after selling the cats haha. i also removed the air/egr systems and swapped the factory injectors for some ls6. at this point, the car lost 8mpg and still traps the same. i think it needs tuned. i am expecting some sort of gain, but whatever. as long as i get my mileage back i really don't care. it's not a racecar.

Contrary to the others....I say go for it. Stock cats are restrictive and if you have an 01-02 you basically have shorty headers. That flat pipe is so damn restrictive.

If you want LTs in the future, obviously don't do it. But yes, I think its a great idea, some of them on the WS6 site have EXCELLENT Y merges (faux flowmaster Y).

Poor man headers !! Take your stock elbow cats and gut them I ended out using a crow bar straight side. Aboutt 5hp lol and then get a cutout welded in. Most people thought I did something crazy haha but it will settle your header craze till you save up

I'm all for saving money and I have a mortgage as well but come on... that bit of money he wants to spend is a drop in the bucket over the 15 to 30 years a mortgage can be. He can at least live in his car if he gets forclosed the way things are going.

I got the chrome BBK LT and ORY combo for 369.99. That's a pretty standard price from online distributors. I would have a hard time swallowing 2-300 for just a y-pipe.

Quick Reply: Those ORY's for stock manifolds/ worth it?
