Default help with lt, ory install!

i just installed my lts and ory on my ta..when i slipped the ypipe over the driver side header there is very little clearance between the joint and the floorboard..when i got my clamp around it is right up against the floorboard.. i dont want the area getting to hot and since its right up against the floorboard im afraid if it gets to hot it will somehow melt my carpet a bit..any suggestions??

It wont melt your carpet. If its actualy touching your floorboard then I would be concerned about the vibration/rattling

Hope you all did poly or solid motor mounts along with your LT install.

I tried that on my Kooks LT/ORY and it didn't fit, the bracket wouldn't clear the rear o2 sensor bung on my y-pipe, I tried modifying it but it didn't help.

OP, see if an exhaust shop can fab a hanger for you to bolt to the floorboard. Ive done so many installs now that beforehand, I will ask the owner if he/she minds, and I will actually take a rubber mallet to the floorboard. You really dont need to bang a whole lot to make some good clearance. After all, the pipe is round. Some people dont wana bash the hell out of there car though Its really not that bad though. Its not like a y-pipe hitting there for months on end is gona leave it in mint condition anyway.

^^^Thats if you want to start ghetto fabing it or if you dont care. Best solution is the poly mounts and never look back.

That has already been suggested and obviously the ideal route to go. I was just offering an alternative cuz not everyone wants to invest in the mounts.

If its right up the against the floorboard it will drive you insane when you go to drive it. i had no clearence at all between mine, couldnt even fit a piece of paper between it. If its like that, I doubt mm will fix your prob. Might wanna go to a exhaust shop as raise suggested but see if they will heat the pipe up and bend it down a little bit.

Exactly, if its that tight, youre still gona hit the floorboard, especially when you really get on the gas. Like I said, your best bet is to take it to a shop so you can get it in the air to explore your options. Different y-pipes give better clearance than others. Even my old pacesetter y-pipe, which is flattened in that area, used to hit on hard launches. The only thing I could come up with was to shave/hammer a little spot where it was hitting and never had the problem again.

i put poly motor mounts on mine when i did my LT's and my ypipe still hit, i had about 1/8" between the floorboard and top of ypipe, $40 was cheaper than taking it and getting the exhaust shop to heat up the pipe and bend it down, i wouldn't suggest beating on the floorboard either
