Default LS1 egr

I'm just curious as to what the rpm operating range is for the egr system on our cars?

Also thinking of removing it and the AIR system. Who has the best price on block-off plates?

I may be wrong, I think the best for block of plates that i found was like $40 on one of the sponsor sites. Compared to tracing a gasket on sheet metal, cutting and grinding it to spec and drilling to holes.. Ill be making mine and saving the $. Hopefully there is cheaper ones though, i know not everyone has access to that sorta stuff.

I'm pretty sure the only reason people remove EGR is because they think it helps performance in some way and it's so cheap ... It does not help performance at all. Unless you're building your engine up to show off your engine bay and win awards and the EGR is throwing off the feng shui then keep the EGR on.

From my understanding, a tune will eliminate the effects of not having the egr making it where you will not have problems from removing it. So safemode explain why you should keep it on and why its a big deal to you that everyone keep it on. Especially if a tune will eliminate the ill emissions effect from not having it.

The only thing removing it will do is throw a check engine code for not having the EGR functioning. The code will not change performance. Good way to shave off a very small amount of weight and clean up the engine bay a good amount.

I bought mine off of WS6 Store as well. Ran me something like $20, and they came with gaskets. Not that you couldn't easily make some with RTV, but you could also easily make your own block offs as well. For me it wasn't worth saving $5 for the trouble so I bought some from them. It also doesn't hurt their shop is a 15 minute drive from my house.

My car was tuned before I bought it so none of this stuff is working anyway. It's useless clutter to me.

pull it off. the only thing that should be stopping you is emissions test. if you dont have it, then dont think twice about removing it.
+ less weight
+ cleaner engine bay
+ no burnt gas recirculating through intake
- emissions test
