Default How To Install An LS1 Idler Pulley?

Mine is very loose or sloppy when I slide it on the aluminum male boss. Is this normal, or am I missing a sleeve/tube or something, that fits on the inside diameter of the bearing, that would give it less play?(Have the Vette alternator bracket.) Thanks

Usually just take it off and put it back on.. Nothing special. The inner bearing race should seat on something though.

It actually does seat, or bottom out properly, when I slide it over the aluminum pilot boss. But when its all the way on, it rocks back & forth, with excessive play. So, I'm wondering if there's a fix for this? It can't be normal. This, I discovered, is the source of my chirping noise. Am I missing something?

That "might" be a possiblility. I had one of each in the garage, when I put the accessories on the front of the engine. Are you saying the inside diameter(the i.d.) of each of these two bearings/idler pulley's, is a different size? You might be on to something there.

So, the hole in the center of the bearing, the i.d...is the same for the Vette idler bearing and the F-Body idler bearing? And that's 17mm? Good to know.
