Default Do HVMC's hurt larger CID engines?

Just curious, my GF has a 427 Z/28 with QTP 1 7/8 headers with the HVMC's and were looking at all areas to increase power.

Woah woah woah woah......woah....

Your GIRL has an LS7 Z28?!? I gotta see this one.. Car girls are a rare find.

But on a 427, you could prolly do some 2" headers or 17/8" to 2" step. The ones you have now are pretty stout. The HVMV just helps create a dead spot after the point of restriction which should "pull" some exhaust and help flow quite a bit.

I didn't say LS7, lol, I just said 427, it's an HKE LS3 based 427.

Thanks for the info.

Here is the build/dyno/track time thread.

^ Yeah.. That's why I typically edit my darn posts too much. I meant 427. (yeah.... Like saying "I meant" is gonna mean anything.... )

Still, a 427 is a healthy power plant. I think you could run some 2" LT's, but not sure of the gains. Check the Gen IV External Room.

^ At least I wasn't the only one that thought that was a superb combination.

Anyway.. how's OP doing with those Kooks LT's?! I may take them off your hands if you wanna get rid of em.

If you have our 1 7/8s HVMC then you are good to go. No need to go any larger. Our Camaro puts down approx 800rwhp on nitrous and traps 150mph in the 1/4. We run 1 7/8s.

Cool, good to know. BTW, these particular headers have been on two different 346/ H/C/I set ups and now the 427. They have held up great!

Irish, we are using the QTP 3in Y into the flowmaster merge.
