Meziere EWP, 6th season on car and still going strong!
I remember when I originally added the Meziere EWP to my h/c bolt on 346 chasing the last few rwhp I could get and never had a worry about longevity. I had so much faith in the EWP that I even re used it on my 402. Well its the start of the 6th driving season and the pump is going strong! No issues at all other then the 15 min job I had today of changing T - Stats. Very simple and I am not a DIY kinda guy for the most part. At any rate pulled old T Stat and swapped in a new 160*, refilled with coolant, burped as much air as possible and whoopie back in the saddle. Worth noting that while cruising or even driving hard the coolant temp is in the 160's, but while ideling the temp will climb into the low 180's. (Fans come on at 180 and 190 respectively) Most likely due to me not doing the "drill mod" to the stat. To be honest I forgot, but doesn't seem to be an issue. Picked up a buddy of mine and had 2 nice blasts, 1 to 171 mph and the other 175. Car pulls so ******* hard. Boy did I miss driving Black Beauty !!! At any rate I just wanted to take a minute and share my longterm roadtest with the Meziere EWP. By the way, I drive this car cross country and never give it a second thought or have any worries. Meziere makes a reliable pump and after 5 years of abuse it works as good as new. Simple T Stat swap and back to normal.

How many miles. 6 years doesn't mean a lot if you drive 1,000 miles a year. I think the guys that DD there cars are more concerned about an EWP dying than the guys that drive them once a week.

when i got my EWP as soon as it was bolted on and had fluid going through it we found a gasket leak. sent the pump back to Meziere, they fixed it and now 1.5 years later and around 13k miles of driving, i have not had one issue.
And im pretty sure allngn_c5 has put more miles on his pump than any of us. i remember some of his posts going back a few years.

I've had mine on about year and a half & about 10k miles, no issues what-so-ever, but I do carry a spare fuse just in case, but i haven't needed it so far.
BTW allngn c5, drilling the T-stat isn't nessary, at least according to email I received from Don Meziere before I installed my EWP.

Wow Im glad this thread generated some comments. Ive got about 36000 miles on the EWP. Carrying a spare fuse is a smart idea, although I haven't needed it. As far as hp gains I don't know. My ewp was added the same time I got my old afr heads and ud pully. The trio gained 51 rwhp if memory is correct. The gains I noticed was on my highway trips. My 346 got over 600 miles on a tank all highway, worked out to a best of 34.5 mpg actual. My 402 setup saw a best of 27 mpg actual. With gas prices up there I am being paid back everytime I drive. LOL. Thanks for the comments. Glad to hear that the poster with 40,000 miles is still trouble free. I actually have a back up new EWP in the closet for that fateful day.

I had never flushed my cooling system? LOL. But with work done over the years it has been drained and refilled a few times since 2006. From 2000-2005 I never touched it. When I did the stat swap most of the coolant came out. So we'll say a partial flush was done this year. My buddy (gm master certified mechanic 26+ yrs) did some sort of test on the coolant and said the stuff was still in good shape lets reuse it. I opted to mix the jugs of dexcool I bought 50/50 and slowly fill her up and then start the engine to begin the burping process. Hope that helps.

I would have to agree. Since the install I have noticed the only difference the non drilled stat makes is the sitting in traffic temp does come up about 10 degrees higher then what it used to with the drill mod. No issue. If it comes up a couple more degrees the first cooling fan turns on and will halt the advance.
