Removing Power steering pulley... anything special?
I need to replace my power steering pulley (chipped... so I keep throwing belts... not fun when it's dark out and cars are flying past at 70mph)
Do I need any special type of puller to do this? (I have 3 pullers now... 1 for removing my stock crank pulley, 1 for removing my ASP pulley (generic puller), and a puller for removing S/C pulleys) ... will any of them work?
do I need to take the P/S pump off in order to swap pulleys or can it be down in the car?
Thanks

oh ok... i'm assuming this is just something I can get from my local hardware store? Any idea on the size and thread pattern ?
Thanks!

No; you must use a Pitman type puller for this job. It has a special pair of flat round jaws.... they sell them cheap at www.JCW.com.
It is easier to remove the pump using the pulley puller first but you can also remove the three bolts securing the pump to the car with the pulley still installed on the pump. (A real bitch with a stubby wrench, however) If you decide to do this, becasue you do not have a Pitman puller, take the whole unit to Autozone and have them remove the old pulley and install the new one.... their charge should be around ten bucks...
You should flush out the system which ever way you go....

The Autozone tool I posted a link to has everything you need to both remove and reinstall the pulley. There is NO CHARGE to rent tools at Autozone. You pay for the tool and when you are through, you return the tool for a FULL refund. Sorry Robert. Sometimes you are just flat out wrong.
