Gas Mileage Question... Car Has A Cam
Not that it really matters to me as I don't DD my T/A...
I do have a cam in the car, when I first got the cam done my front 02s took a dump on me. So I used my rear 02s as my fronts and was good to go.
So I pulled my car out of storage, and I put on ~150 miles and I;m at a 1/4 tank.. Not throwing any codes or anything.. But I guess my mileage is shiit bc I cruise and keep the RPMs around 2k when driving instead of shifting to like 4th or 5th gear.. I'm almost certain that is the contributor to my bad gas mileage? Again, not throwing any codes or CEL/SES light

How old is the fuel? You didn't store it with a full tank... did you? Do you run premium in her?
Thats awful gas mileage, especially for an M6. A fellow member on these boards suggested running a bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner every oil change to me. While I'm not a big believer in additives to begin with, I will say this product seems to do a pretty good job. I also ran some Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner and noticed an improved idle and better gas mileage. I'd try those two and see how she does after a few tanks of gas. I was getting around 15-16 mpg city before I changed all fluids and ran the MCCC and Chevron Techron through it. Now it's getting around 18-19 mpg with simple maintenance and a couple additives that I'm now a believer in!

If your keeping the car in 3rd gear I assume this is city driving? If thats the case I wouldn't consider that bad. M6's get good highway due to the double overdrive but city its going to be like any other V8 especially when keeping the car in 3rd gear. Although there are M6 guys getting 28-30 MPG that is mostly highway, City is going to be a lot lower especially with a cam

I stored the car with a full tank of gas, ALWAYS use 93 octane here and when I store the car I always use Seafoam... That fuel was from 10/2010 till 5/2011 so that is what 7 months old
City driving yeah I keep it in 3rd or 4th what ever keeps me at 2k RPMs... I love to hear my exhaust
HWY this car is amazing. Last time I took a road trip, I averaged 26 mpg 6th FTMFW!!!
Thanks guys, I figured I was right in the range I should be, and with the gas being 7 months old I'm sure that's not helping either

Little bit of a late update. Took a trip yesterday, about 90% highway, averaged 26.5mpg. The second half of the leg I was carrying about 150-200 extra lbs, but I still managed to get 370 miles out of my tank.

Gas begins to break down after about 30 days, but can remain stable for more than 90 days. Depends on climate, moisture, how it's stored... etc. Since you live in Chicago and it's a reasonably cold climate much of the year, the gas you receive in your region probably has mid-to-high volatility except in the dead of summer, when they'll lower volatility for a short period so your car isn't hard to start when it's hot out. High volatility is just the opposite - it vaporizes and combusts more easily, making it easier to start a car when it's cold. That also means the fuel degrades more easily, losing its octane rating faster. Running on low octane gas is... well, bad on every count. Next time, siphon the gas out and replace it. And when you plan to store your car for more than 30-60 days, buy a can of stabilizer and add some to the fuel tank. It's not a fool-proof solution, but it helps. Cars were meant to be driven. Use that gas up before this becomes a problem.
