Default valve chatter: how do i stop it?

Just as the title sais, how do I stop it? It sounds horrible when I start driving down the road, but doesn't make a peep while idling. I've read you can't adjust the valves on an ls motor.. so someone tell me what the hell to do, and please.. keep the smart *** comments to yourself. I can hardly ask any question on here without people being a dick

You cannot adjust the valves but you can adjust the valvetrain to a certain extent. Specifically, you can alter the preload by using different length pushrods and you can shim the rockers to adjust the wipe of the rockers accross the top of the valves. Whether either or both of these are needed requires physical inspection and measurement of those components. Any changes may, or may not make the valvetrain less noisey depending whether the current setup is that far off.

Also, how is your oil pressure?

^ This.... And a push rod length checker and add around .050 - .070 for preload.

And what oil arte you running. Some run a 10-30 or 10-40 to shut it up a little more.

10w30 huh? I'll have to give that a go, is it proven to be safe on these engines? Sorry to hijack here, but my valves annoy the **** out of me too!

^ 10-30 is fine.. Some have run much thicker oil.. I wouldn't personally... But there's nothing wrong with it.
