Default Looking into doing the 04+ ls6 valley cover...

So I've read that to install the newer style ls6 valley cover you have to grind some webbing out of the valley. Does any one know if this is required on an early ls6 block? The guy that i bought my car from said the motor was from an '02 ss. When i had my trany out doing the clutch i checked the castings numbers and came up with 12561168. Can someone verify that this is an ls6 casting? Thanks

I actually could fit a fullsize hacksaw in there to cut the little notch off the block. Cut down a good bit, and then used vise grips to snap it off at the cut. Made far less shavings then a Dremel or equivalent tool would. Well worth the work.
