Default is the following statement correct.....

even though one sponsor will never admit that another has a better equivalent part than them, lol, i feel like im getting a little "fibbed" too.....(i hope that sponsor will chime in)....

anyways, help me out, is this true...

Trick flows 220 as cast heads will outflow/outperform any of the following gm castings (ls1, ls2, ls3, ls6, lq4/9) no matter how much work is done to them.

(omitting the ls7 from that list because with a little work these heads do well)

You're comparing an aftermarket head to an OE piece..... Apples to oranges if you ask me. Aftermarket heads are exactly that. That's why they come at a premium.

I'm not going to say a bad *** 243 wouldn't hang, but you'd prob spend just as much getting it there.

AI worked over LS6's post some pretty solid numbers but as said aftermarkets cost alot for a reason, are you trying to pick a fight with the sponsor you hope "chimes in"?

Ported LS3's will give alot of aftermarket heads a run for the money. **** I sold my AFR 225's in favor of ported LS3's when I started my 416 build.

I agree with the above posters. If you have a budget, then AI or similar sponsors will provide you with the best bang for your buck with the factory castings. That is the route I took. I wanted my engine to look as factory as possible and I decided to keep the 241 castings. When you open my hood, the only thing at a glance that will look non-factory will be the headers. Upon closer inspection, the stealth FAST 90 will give it away some more. But that is what I wanted. Everyone has a plan for their build or I hope they do. Look at how much you have to spend and what you want to do with your app.

LS3's are the exception to the rule, LOL.

Pretty much waht I meant was you can spend x,xxx getting cathedral's ported and reworked, and that's it. You've taken it as far as you can.

OR, you spend almost as much on an aftermarket as-cast head, enjoy worked stock head #'s, and still have a lot of room to grow in the future.

You need a 4" or great bore to run ls3 heads (correct me if I am wrong).

Take a look at the flow numbers for yourself, these aren't the only 2 places that port LS3/L92 Heads but they are probably the 2 biggest names. TOTAL ENGINE AIRFLOW
WCCH
I took my L92/LS3 heads to TEA personally, they were actually located inside of trick-flows facility, a great looking place! They flowed my heads and gave me the sheet, I don't have a scanner or I'd post it up.
