Default B&B catback any good?

I found what seems to be a great deal on a used one. I was consedering going with a magnaflow catback on my pretty much stock LS1 (just a lid and p&p tb), are these two catbacks simular in flow, sound, and built quality? Also I am not a fan of the tips on this catback, it wouldn't be hard to cut them off and swap on some differn't ones right? Thanks!

I like the way they sound. The tips look pretty good on a T/A, not so great on a Camaro.

From what I have read about the B&B is that it has horrible flow, kind of like a flowmaster. The magnaflow is one of the better flowing catbacks ot there. I know I enjoy mine.

B&B triflow is probably one of the better cat backs out there. The design is very similar to Magnaflow mufflers. Sounds almost identical. B&B is like a higher end magnaflow catback with nice, shiny, stainless piping, and muffler.

The only thing i agree with cranny's statement is that I like the way B&B exhaust sound. but I think they look better on a rs kit camaro then a t/a due to the flatness of the top and bottom of the tips matching the flat rear bumper lip. T/As look better with corsa clones or rounder tips since the car has more rounded body lines. I get nothing but compliments. I only have the tips now on my true dual setup.

Ive had a friend (bored at the shop) actually dynoed his car running true duals with Dynomax, magnaflow, flowmaster, and hooker aero chambers. he flanged them so he can interchange. All mufflers dynoed almost identical numbers with only muffler swaps. +/- 1-3hp and +/- 1-3 tq. Very minimal difference.

As noted earlier, good info and I wish more info like this was available to help disperse internet rumors. I surmise that if you are running cats, the numbers would be on the low end or even less?

do not buy. You should of searched this out. I bought one because i wanted a mellow sound and it has one. When i added the b&b to my car i was running 12.9 in the 1/4 mi all day. After i was 13.15 and my mph was down. I lost power. On the dyno it does not gain. When i open up mu cutout i gain 30hp over the b&b catback on my car. My boy only gained 5hp over a factory stock catback on a stroker motor like i have. This 30hp gain shown the b&b does not flow. it did not gain over my stock catback and the more mods you keep adding to the car the less it flows. If i would not of sold my factory catback before the dyno and track times,i would of put it back on. Get a borla with the plates you can adjust toyr flow,or a ele-cutout gain power and save money. I don't know how these guys are saying it's so great when from day one it NEVER gained over my factory and today on my 402ci when i open a cutout i gain 30hp. My boy gaines 5hp over a factory catback with open cutout on his camaro ss. I had this catback for 7 years and the only thing is if they re worked it at the factory it cuz it sucks so bad.

Based on what everyone was saying on how the catback flows, I did some more research and decided against it (although $200 for a $900 cat back is hard to resist). I will end up going with my orginal plan, getting the magnaflow. Thanks again.

You won't regret it with a magnaflow. I love my magnaflow.

I've got one and love it. I got it for the sound it gives and the looks on the T/A.
I gained 28 RWHP from my Pacesetter LT's ORY, and B&B Triflow cat back W/Out a tune. Never did bother with a tune, even though I know I'm running pretty rich.

I think it was the best combination of sound looks and performance. If you just want all out performance and squeezing and extra 5HP out of your exhaust, I'm sure there are better options. This option was right for me. My other choice would have been the GMMG exhaust if I did not want a mellow tone.

For $200 I would have got that B&B. Nothing wrong with a Magnaflow except everyone I see has crooked tips that never seem to line up straight.
