Default 1998 PCV Replacement

OK so this is my 1st try on posting pictures and how to so give me a Break

Parts needed: Pic #1
1 PCV Valve part# PCV1199
3 feet of 3/8" Fuel Line
Dorman 3/8" fuel line brass Tee part# 788-031
HELP! PCV end assem. part# 46017
help! 90 DEGREE SOFT BOOT PART# 47029

2000-2002 Driver Side
PEX SharkBite 1/2" X 1/2" Elbow from Home Depot.

Pic #2 the Old ****.

Pic #3 The Culprits.

Pic #4 My completed Project.

Pic #5 Rubber Boot for Driver Side Valve Cover

Pic #6 Brass Fitting for 2000-2002 Driver Side Valve Cover

You will need to re-use a couple of small pieces of the OLD Hard Plastic tubing as Connectors.
I used one short piece maybe 2" long to connect the rubber boot on the Driver side rear of the valve cover this is the boot I don't have a part# for because I replaced this earlier this year.

I used another small piece to connect the PCV Valve to the fuel line.

The Fuel line going across the back is 18" long
The fuel line going from the back to the PCV Valve is 17" long
The Fuel line going from the T to the passenger valve cover back is 7" long
The Fuel line going from the Passenger valve Cover front is 10" long.

Like I said this is Just what I did maybe you have a Better Idea. Hope this can help someone.

OK now picture #5 is the boot that goes on the rear of the Driver side valve cover.
picture #6 is the Brass Fitting for the Driver Side Valve Cover 2000-2002

Stop busting the guys *****. You obviously don't get the point of this thread. The rubber fitting sections on the PCV system are very prone to failure over the years. A new setup is probably getting very difficult to find, and runs close to 100 bucks at a dealership. Some people need/want to keep things original. Not everyone wants to pull the intake to install an LS6 valley cover. In my opinion this thread should have been made a long time ago. And if you don't agree with what the OP is doing, then your solution is the red X at the top right hand side of your screen

My X is blue...

Just kidding. I did something similar last year except I used a dual catch can setup from Saikou Michi. Works pretty well.

Those PCV valves also fit real nicely into the brass plumbing fittings from home depot. I want to say they run a few bucks and after a coat of flat black plaint they look really close to stock. I will take a picture when I get home from work for you.

There is even a couple parts and part numbers that the LS6 system can use...

I just upgraded to the LS6, but this some good stuff too.

So since I found this while the intake was off, can I reinstall the intake and still be able to access what I need to replace this hose afterward? I removed AIR at the same time. And how much does it hurt to drive maybe 40 miles or so without the system hooked up? (assuming I block off the holes in the intake and TB where the hoses go)

So that 1/2" x 1/2" brass fitting threads into the back driver's side valve cover?

Edit: Are you telling me the 00-02 used a threaded fitting and 98-99 used a rubber boot that plugs in?

Yes....but the 00-02 piece was not threaded from GM. That is just something I found that will work.

I redid my pcv lines recently and another good option which is what i use is to take the orifice style pcv that comes in the 4.8 and 5.3 engines and drill it out with a 3/8" drill bit to ensure enough flow to put on the back of the driver side valve cover.

Bumping this thread. I failed smog because my PCV hose was ripped in half and used this to repair it. I found the parts to be correct in the writeup, with 2 differences. The brass T fitting part number was wrong. But there is only one 3/8" fitting in the help section. Also use the truck PCV valve, for me it was #1099 at autozone. For me the cost was around 30 bucks and I had to use 2 small hardline pieces from my old tubing
