Is anyone running this dynomax muffler?
im looking to replace my slowmaster on my LS1 camaro (bolts on LT's ORY to flowmaster catback) with a new better flowing muffler ive been looking into the Magnaflow 12267 or the Dynomax and im really leaning towards the Dynomax 17227 - Dynomax Ultra-Flo Welded Muffler ($103.99 jegs) just wondering if anyone has gone from a flowmaster to either muffler and what there feelings were performance and sound characteristics and any links to videos or sound clips would be appreciated thanks guys.

Just for fun when I had open headers I threw on a dynomax muffler that i had for my 64 chevy p/u and although i could only fit the passenger side on because of the underbody it sounded very similar to a flowmaster. just my experience to share since this is the first dynomax question I've ever seen on an LS1 site

and it was on an LS1 car? and it sounded similar to a flow hmm cause on dynomax's site they show a flow comparison and its showing almost double the flow out of this muffler.

Yup^^^ on my LS1, not to sure how well they compare to other name brands like magnaflow, gmmg, corsa, borla, blah blah. I'm sure guys don't run dyno max because they are more restrictive than these other brands

Not really. There is a test some guy done on the net with different mufflers and cutout style mufflers. Dynmaxes 6" round was the only muffler in his test that reduced back pressure. I bought that muffler in 3.5" and made my own exhaust. I picked up .15 tenth and a solid 1mph.

I would like to check out their new muffler with the spring loaded baffle inside. Quiet at cruising but loud at WOT. Wish someone had clips of one of those.

The Flowmaster cat-back has a 3" inlet and 3" outlets, the Dynomax #17227 has 2.5" outlets, you want the Dynomax #17536, it has the 3" outlets which will match the tailpipe diameter of the FM cat-back; and flow better.

I have a 3" center-in, center-out Dynomax Ultra Flow on my IROC with a single output on the driver side. It replaced a 3" Spin Tech. The spin tech is filled with a series of sea-shell sound diverters. The dynomax is a straight through design that I can stick my fist clear through. The Spin Tech made my car (350 SBC) sound like a POS buick station wagon with a hole in the muffler. It was nasty raspy, and just very cheap sounding. Much to my shock, the Dynomax made the car super quiet... like almost stock quiet. Once the packing loosened up, the car got a nice tone under throttle, but is still very quiet at idle. Nice for a driver.

im not 100% sure it was a flowmaster cat back system on the car, it came with it already installed i just know its a 3" inlet and 2.5" outlets on my flowmaster and i wanna keep it as cheap as possible and the dynomax uses 2.5" out's and was cheaper than 3" in and out's and i can reuse my tailpipes and tips.

so i got the Dynomax on today and i was surprised how quite it is on start up and idle, but it has a nice smooth deep tone to it and there is no rasp what so ever which is great, i could pass my debadged z28 for a stock v6 if someone wasn't paying attention. and i hope it might get a little louder once the muffler gets some miles on it and loosens up a bit.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjKhjwX01tM

That's what I like best about the muffler. It's nice and tame when idling or just muddling through traffic, but when you peg that skinny pedal on the right and go WOT, it hits an incredibly nice note. Sounds good.

agreed it sounds very good, the flowmaster is a classic sound but i am definitely liking this one, it used to sound like my flowmaster was welded to the underside of the body but with the dynomax it makes the car alot more driveable.
