i need help on air delete. i know 02's do not have egr because of ls6 intake or something like that. if any one has ever done this to a 01-02 ls1 help would be great. i am not 100% sure but i think i need to buy the air gasket and block off plate. all help will be greatly appreciated.

you don't need a block off plate. you can cut the flange off the pipe and use the coin of your choice as a plate, then just bolt the flange back on wi th that coin under it.

as for the lid...surely you can engineer something? buy an aftermarket lid, problem solved.

Ha, i woulda never thought to stick a coin or another similiarly sized piece of metal over the hole then bolt the flange back down. Pretty good idea.

I didnt feel like buying block off plates so i cut the tube 2" from the flange and crushed the cut side shut with a bench vise. Then i for good measure i took the crushed end to a bench grinder and grinded the end at an angle til it "welded" itself shut from the heat. Bolted them on and went on my way.

I just had my fittings welded up and the headers re-coated. But... before when I still had the fittings, I took a scrap piece of thin aluminum I think I originally got at Ace Hardware, made some shiny block-off plates by tracing the AIR gasket, polished them up on my buffing wheel, then installed the home made block-offs with the AIR gasket underneath. Worked and looked great for about 10 years.

^ this. its pretty easy to DIY. however, you can find the block off plates on ebay ad some sponsors here. and btw if your going thru the delete you might as well remove eveything; air pump hoses bla bla. save weight and look good
