ls6 or tpis ls6 intake
98 z28. I have an ls6 intake but haven't put it on the car yet. My only mods are Texas speed long tubes and true duals, SLP airlid, 160 degree thermostat, and 3.73 gear. My question is would I gain any power with these mods with the tpis set up and 90 mm throttle body or would that be too much for the car to handle? I plan on gettin it tuned after its installed but just wondering if I should just install it or do the tpis mod first before I do?

At one time TPIS would resnout your LS6 intake for $350. If that is still the case, the TPIS is probably cheaper than the cost of a used FAST 90 minus the proceeds you could get from selling the LS6. The FAST is only a little better than the TPIS LS6 90mm and the difference would not likely translate into meaningful horsepower unless and until you move to better heads. (The LS6 intake is a pretty good match to stock 243s.)

I have not done that particular swap with your mods so I cannot report personal experience. However, based on my reading of old LS1-LS6 intake swap threads on this site you could expect 10-15 horsepower on a stone stock LS1 and somewhat more with mods - in your case headers only. Whether that is worth the expense depends on your perspective. The LS1 will, of course, become a significant restriction if you pursue additional mods such head/cam.

Lingenfelter will modify your ls6 intake with a 90mm snout just like tpis for $250. This price is fairly new as it was $350 less than a year ago. I have one I'm going to put on my Z soon.
