Thumbs down Clear lid melted and warped

This happened during my parade duty with the vert. Weak!

Everything under the hood is stock except for a STB, and this lid that apparently can't take the heat. The metal clips barely hold the lid now.

This is the lid Speed Inc sells.

I have a buddy who's lid did this as well. Lid company will NOT replace it BTW. They apparently know of the issue and discontinued the clear lids because of it.

Moving to external.

Sorry for your loss hope you didn't pay too much for it. That's shitty that the company doesn't do anything about it, if that's true. I'd contact them either way demanding a refund.

Yes I bought it from Speed Inc about a year ago but just installed it this summer.

I sent them an email a short while ago.

That's too bad. I guess that could be why not many people have them.

That's weak sauce.

That'd be nice if they'd offer your purchase price credited to a replacement.....

FWIW-just a suggestion, maybe next "parade duty" you crack your hood to let some of that heat out...cops do that down here for parades...just saying.

YES..... That was one of the best lids I've had on my car. I kind of regret selling it, but I couldn't use it with a 4" MAF-less setup.

Wow that sucks man. I've had that lid from Speed Inc. for more than a year without a single problem. Guess they're hit or miss.

I'm hoping it could have just been part of a bad batch because I liked the looks of it.

it makes a difference if you get clear or black plastic. clear plastic is weaker.

Man that sucks thank god they were on backorder when I was trying to buy one. I bought a SLP and from what i've read they fit about like the rest of them. You will need some weather stripping to make them seal up good. one brand seems to fit good on one car, but not the next. I would say mine fits decent.

The lid is out of warranty so I am SOL but was offered another at cost, shipped. So I'm gonna roll the dice and give it another go.

Care to share what they are charging you? I have an idea though........wonder why they would not stand behind an obviously defective product. Did you ask them how many other failures were reported?

$28 less than the listed price. Apparently this was a first. FWIW, air temps that day were low 80s.

I plan to put it through its paces within a year this time--either at the drag strip or if I get suckered into another parade. Or caught in traffic on a hot day...
