Default spliced o2 wires? quick question

I bought a new o2 and plan on having it put on- but before i do i had a quick question for you guys. When i did my header install a few months back i didnt buy new longer o2's or extensions- the shop said not to worry about it and i guess just added some wire to hook them up. They said they do it all the time? When this is done, would this mean i no longer have the connector for my o2 to plug in- so i have to keep splicing the wire to the o2 from now on? (maybe a dumb question) Another question- If they cut the connector on my car and i have to cut the connector off my new o2 and wire them together--how do i know which of the 4 wires goes to which wire on my car. Just trying to figure this all out. thanks

How can anyone offer any real help, when you don't even know for sure how it was done before?
You don't know if it has plugs or not.

Yes, splicing is bad.

The plugs will only go together one way. Mark the wires if necessary & re-assemble in the same manner.

X2 on marking the wires. but how about taking a look under your car first? i vote against splicing too.

Splices are fine as long as they are soldered and insulated properly. Remember you must splice the harness side. The sensor side is stainless wire and cannot be soldered
