Exhaust Opinions! Bone Stock WS6
Hi All!
Just looking for opinions really, but I have a 99 Trans Am WS6 with 109,xxx miles.
I'm the second owner and everything is stock from the first.
I'm looking to do a cat-back exhaust, any recommendations/opinions on which one I should get??? I'd prefer something "throatier" but loud is always good
Thanks!!!

GMMG is the best sounding exhaust on a stock LS1 hands down. All stainless steel, but it comes at a price. If you plan on a lot of future modifications like H/C etc I'd look into true duals. Kooks has a nice TD setup but I think you HAVE to use their headers too. A lot depends on your budget.

Magnaflow is a great choice for the money IMO, not too loud cruising around town but gets wicked when you get into it. But, the SLP Loudmouth would be the best if you just want something all out loud, which isn't really an expensive catback either.

If you don't plan on going with headers in the future I'd say go with SLP Loudmouth1, GMMG, or Borla. If you do go with one of those and decide headers in the future, make sure to get a catted y-pipe, or you'll have rasp galore.

I'd have to say that even though you don't plan on headers now, you may later on down the road. If you do go headers, you're limited with a lm1 exhaust setup (sound=rasp=****). I'd go with some of the other choices like corsa or slp dual/dual imo. Good luck in your search, and remember sound preference is usually subjective and totally up to the owner.

I have basically this setup but I think it used to be dubbed Slp's dual/dual (which incidentally always came with a powerflo) setup. Found on Firehawks, and I believe SS cars could opt for this option as well. Someone straighten out my **** here if I'm off, but I don't think I am. I have the 3 inch dual/dual on my car with some nicer tips. I have them going into a 3 inch y pipe for now, over the axle.

Dual/dual and PowerFlo aren't the same. Dual/dual was an option from SLP, and one of the best flowing exhausts for our cars.
PowerFlo is an aftermarket SLP loudmouth system with 2 additional mufflers at the tips.

If you never plan on longtubes or any future mods other than making it sound pretty good and fairly loud. Go cut the muffler and put some better tips on it.

If I were you I would just go to a muffler shop and tell them to cut the muffler off and put a y pipe in its place and go to advance or autozone and get a nice set of tips for cheap and they are stainless. I love the way the back of my car looks with the advance tips and I only gave 60 bucks for both of them. If you buy tips you'll have probably 150 in exhaust vs. 400 and still have to install it or have it installed plus pay shipping. If you had planned for building this car with say longtubes, a cam later on down the road then I would say buy a catback but if you just want to get it a little louder I would just cut off the muffler and ditch those little factory tips. Heres my tips I love how they look on a T/A.
